Travel to Prague

Passport Information

A valid passport is required to board your flight to Prague. Please note that the name on your passport must match the name on your airline ticket. It is recommended that your passport be valid for six months beyond your return travel date. Please check your passport's expiration date. Depending on your country of origin, the required validity may differ.

Alcon partners with CIBT to help expedite the passport renewal process. To get started, click on the following link: How to Expedite Passports | CIBTvisas Expedited Passport Solutions

For more information on passports (applications, renewals, or adding pages), U.S. citizens may contact their local post office, visit the U.S. Department of State website, or visit the following sites to learn more about applying for a new passport or renewing a passport. If you are not a U.S. citizen, please refer to your country's passport application and renewal requirements. The process may take up to twelve weeks.

Visa Information

Nationals of certain countries may also require an entry visa. Please visit the U.S. Department of State website to determine the requirements of your specific country. Even if Prague does not require a visa for entry, please check to be sure you do not need a transit visa for any connecting flights through countries you might enter en route to Prague. You will need to visit the government websites of those specific countries for information on how to apply for a transit visa. We also recommend checking the sherpa° website.

This process may take several weeks, so please check immediately upon registering.

UK ETA

If your travel route to Prague includes a stop or layover in the United Kingdom, you will need to apply for a UK ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) before your trip. This is a new entry requirement for U.S. passport holders and other visa-exempt nationals traveling to or through the UK.

The UK ETA is not a visa, but it is mandatory for anyone transiting through the UK, even if you’re only passing through the airport for a short connection. The process is simple and done online. You’ll need a valid passport, an email address, a photo of yourself, and a payment method. The ETA costs £16 (approximately $22 USD) and is valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

Alcon will cover or reimburse you for this cost. Please retain your payment receipt for reimbursement purposes.

Important: Without an approved ETA, you may be denied boarding for flights transiting through the UK.

We strongly recommend applying as soon as your travel plans are confirmed. You can apply on the official UK government website.
